Responsible Cities Political Action Committee Endorses Candidates for Town of Normal Municipal Elections
There are nine candidates running for three seats on the Normal Town Council and two candidates for Mayor. Responsible Cities endorses the re-election of Mayor Chris Koos, and Chemberly Cummings, Kevin McCarthy and A.J. Zimmerman for Town Council.
Incumbent Mayor Chris Koos’ leadership has led to revitalization of our Uptown, expanded our visitor base, and attracted once-in-a-generation investment from Rivian Automotive. The town has also seen business development throughout the community and first-class public services. Koos has led Normal to national prominence. Our town is widely known as an exceptional Midwestern community.
Incumbent Chemberly Cummings combines experience with a real understanding of economic development. She respects the value of others and understands that interdependence is the only path forward. Ms. Cummings will continue to be an experienced, diverse voice on the Town Council.
Incumbent Kevin McCarthy has the commitment, experience, and knowledge of budgets and successful Economic Development strategies to serve Normal. He is willing to make the tough decisions to continue moving Normal forward and is a vocal proponent for social equity.
A.J. Zimmerman has served Normal well on the Planning Commission since 2012 and is currently the Chair of the group. He demonstrates a common-sense approach to city government, and we believe he will quickly become a strong voice on the Council.
Incumbent Scott Preston and Brad McMillan are also qualified for election.
